In this article, I'll test test out the free versions of the most popular AI humanizers available on the market. I'll be using the same 200 word for all the humanization tests, then running the results through GPTZero. I'll compare each product's website design, key features, the tone and style of the generated text, whether it keeps the original meaning intact, word count control, and more. Come explore my findings with me!
In-Depth Tool Analysis
1.Phrasly
Overview
Phrasly AI is a full AI writing assistant designed to help people write and improve content that sounds genuinely human. They claim to use proprietary models trained on real human data to keep everything sounding natural.
The homepage layout feels a bit cluttered, but the backend has a separate dashboard with built-in tools like AI Humanizer, AI Detector, and Content Generator. The AI Humanizer is pretty cool—it gives you three humanize modes to choose from: Easy, Medium, and Aggressive. After generating your content, you can click "Check for AI" to see the AI detection rate.
They recently added a "Pages" feature, but there's barely any explanation for it, so I honestly have no idea what it's supposed to do. On the plus side, the dashboard lets you view your history and switch between light/dark mode, so it's pretty well-rounded feature-wise.
Features
AI Humanizer & Paraphraser: Transforms AI generated content into smooth writing that reads better.
AI Writer: Generates new content and has built in citations and references support unlike many other AI writing assistants.
AI Detector: Lets you check the quality of your content.
Phrasly Pages: A content generation and document editing environment all in one.
Real Test Result:
In my test, I picked Medium model for a balanced result. Now let's see how it performed. Phrasly AI straight-up turned three clearly organized paragraphs into sections labeled 3, 4, and 5—looks like something went wrong with their humanize model.
The result also didn't match their claimed "100% Human" rating. When I tested it on GPTZero, the AI rate came back at 100%.
In conclusion, Phrasly AI not only messed up the entire structure of the article, but the results weren't good either.
Pricing of Phrasly AI
Plan | Price (Annual) | Key Features |
Free | $0/month | 550 AI humanization words, 3 content generation credits, limited tool usage. |
Unlimited | $12.99/month | Unlimited AI humanizations, 15 AI writer generations/month, 2,500 words per process, advanced AI humanization. |
2.GPTHumanizer AI
Overview:
Honestly, GPTHumanizer AI is one of the most cost effective options among all the tools I tested, and the humanizing results are actually better too. Most tools only give you 300-500 words for free trials, which is basically just one test run—not nearly enough to tell if a tool is actually good. But GPTHumanizer's free model allow you to use unlimited times, and you don't even need to sign up for your first use. Just open the website and boom, you're ready to go!
The site design is clean and consistent. You don't need to navigate to a separate dashboard—everything's right there on the homepage. It comes with a free built-in AI detector and a professional AI rewriter. You can check your history and even upload files directly. If you go with a paid subscription, you unlock more advanced Pro and Ultra models, 8 different writing styles, and support for 11 languages.
Honestly, I'd say this is the best cost effective tool out of all 12 I tested.
Key Features:
Multi-Model Humanization: GPTHumanizer offers three different humanization models; Lite, Pro and Ultra to cater to different levels of humanization, and provide users with Lite model unlimited usage for FREE.
Language and Style Support: GPTHumanizer supports 11 languages and 8 distinct writing styles offering users significant flexibility.
Natural Writing Enhancement: GPTHumanizer aims to make the naturalness and readability of the text improved.
AI Checker: GPTHumanizer comes with a free AI checker tool and offers free unlimited AI checking on all paid plans.
Plagiarism-Free: GPTHumanizer ensures that the humanized text is free from plagiarism.
Real Test Result:
One of the pleasant surprises about GPTHumanizer AI is that once you register and log in, the platform gives you a free trial of the Pro model—pretty generous compared to all the other tools out there!
For my test, I chose Pro mode and a General tone. The humanization was super quick, and the built-in AI checker provided detection results right away. The humanized content looks great—the tone stays intact, the dash problem is completely gone, no overly complex sentences, and without a doubt, it passed GPTZero's detection!
Pricing:
Plan | Price (Yearly) | Key Features |
Free | $0/month | 200 words/request, Lite model. |
Basic | $4.99/month | 5,000 words/month, 800 words/request, Lite/Pro/Ultra models. |
Standard | $9.99/month | 30,000 words/month, 1,200 words/request, Lite/Pro/Ultra models all features. |
Pro | $12.99/month | Unlimited words, unlimited words/request, Lite/Pro/Ultra models all features. |
3. Stealth Writer
Overview:
StealthWriter has a black and white color scheme with a simple, straightforward design. After signing up, you're taken straight to the dashboard, where the homepage shows "How to Use StealthWriter" and a Changelog. The backend includes AI Humanizer, AI Detector, and Generator features.
In the AI Humanizer interface, you can choose from five humanize models, 10 levels of humanization, and 8 different writing styles. While having all these options sounds great, it also makes you wonder—can StealthWriter really customize things this much, or is it just too good to be true?
Key Features:
Models for different AI content sources: offers different models for different AI content sources (ChatGPT, Claude, Llama) and even for human-written text
Multilingual support: offers output in three languages (English, Spanish, French)
Two models for Humanisation: Ghost Mini and Ghost Pro for different levels of humanisation
Built-in AI detector: can test if content is AI-generated
Generator: offers a content generation tool in all plans
Real Test Result:
Let's look at the actual results. In my test, I picked the 4.6 mini model, level 8, and set the style to "don't change." Okay, so StealthWriter's built-in detector showed the AI rate dropped to 0%.
But when I actually tested it on GPTZero, the result was... yep, 100% AI. So despite all these customizable options StealthWriter offers, the results are pretty disappointing. My advice? Focus more on quality, not quantity.
Pricing of Stealth Writer:
Plan | Price (Monthly) | Key Features |
Free | $0/month | 10 daily humanizations (Ghost Mini), 1,000 words/humanization. |
Basic | $20/month | Unlimited Ghost Mini, 20 daily Ghost Pro, 2,000 words/humanization. |
Standard | $35/month | Unlimited Ghost Mini, 50 daily Ghost Pro, 3,000 words/humanization. |
Premium | $50/month | Unlimited Ghost Mini & Pro, 5,000 words/humanization. |
4. Walter Writes AI
Overview:
Walter Writes AI is a quite popular AI humanizer on the market. After signing up, you get 300 free words—which, to be frankly, is barely enough for one test. The backend of Walter Writes AI is beautifully designed and really aesthetically pleasing. Main features include AI Humanizer, AI Detector, and language selection.
Key Features
Adjustable Rewrite Strength: Allows users to choose between Simple, Standard or Enhanced rewrite
Built-in AI detector: Allows users to get instant scores for text quality
Voice and meaning preservation: WalterWrites.ai emphasises that it tries to keep the user's voice and original meaning when rewriting
Structure-level rewriting: Unlike simple word swaps, WalterWrites.ai rewrites content at sentence level to make it sound more human
Multi-language support: Walter Writes AI can rewrite AI content in more than 80 languages
Real Test Result:
The AI Humanizer interface is organized by readability, purpose, and three different humanization strengths. The readability section shows different use cases in a simple and straightforward way.
I selected University, General, and Simple mode to see how it performed. One thing that's different from other products: Walter Writes AI blocks the AI detection test results in the free version.
Looking at the output, the word count increased quite a bit, and the issue with excessive dashes wasn't really improved, and there were also a lot of long sentences. However, the original tone and content were preserved pretty well, and it successfully passed the GPTZero test.
Pricing:
Plan | Price (Annual) | Key Features |
Starter | $8/month | 30,000 words per month. |
Pro | $13/month | 70,000 words per month. |
Unlimited | $26/month | Unlimited words per month. |
5. HIX Bypass
Overview:
HIX Bypass has a cute pastel color scheme with a clean and refreshing interface. You get 300 free words after signing up, and once you log in, you're taken straight to the dashboard—though the dashboard layout feels a bit cluttered. HIX Bypass also has the most features of any tool I've tested so far, including HIX AI, AI Writer, and AI Homework Helper. Worth mentioning: HIX Bypass also offers a desktop app and browser extensions.
Key features:
Multiple Humanisation Modes: HIX Bypass has Fast, Balanced and Aggressive modes, giving you more control over the humanisation process
Advanced Text Processing: HIX Bypass has sophisticated text processing capabilities
Built in AI Detector: This feature allows you to test your text for quality before and after humanisation
Content Enhancement: The tool aims to improve the naturalness of your writing without changing its original meaning
Multi-Language Support: HIX Bypass supports more than 50 languages
Real Test Result:
The free trial offer users 300 free words, but during my test, I found that the max input is only 125 words. To keep testing, I had to cut my content down to 100 words. HIX AI also got its only AI check, and showed me the result instantly.
Let's look at the results. The meaning was preserved, though the tone is worse, the dash problem wasn't improved, but it did pass the GPTZero test in the end.
Here's the funny part: after I finished testing, the dashboard showed I'd used 206 words of my free quota. So... was this intentional on the platform's part, or just an accidental bug?
Pricing:
Plan | Price (Annual) | Key Features |
Basic | $9.99/month | 5,000 words/month, 500 words/request. |
Pro | $14.99/month | 50,000 words/month, 2,000 words/request. |
Unlimited | $15/month | Unlimited words/month, unlimited words/request. |
6. TwainGPT
Overview:
TwainGPT is another minimalist style AI humanizer. Like most tools, new users need to register to try it out, and you get 250 free words after logging in. The dashboard is pretty standard—AI Humanizer, AI Detector, and Writing Generator. You can check your history and switch languages too.
Key features:
Advanced AI humanizer: TwainGPT is marketed as one of the most advanced and consistent humanizers available
Multi-language support: TwainGPT can humanise content in more than 100 languages with a native level of authenticity
Mobile first: TwainGPT promises a mobile first experience
Additional tools: AI Detector and Writing Generator
Quality: Aims to produce high quality content that reads naturally and authentically
Real Test Result:
In the AI Humanizer interface, there are three writing levels and 100+ languages to humanize with—making this the most linguistically inclusive tool I've encountered so far. I selected the Intermediate mode, so let's see how it performs.
One thing worth noting: TwainGPT's results don't show word count changes, which is something a lot of people pay attention to. The team could definitely improve on this detail. There are quite a few long sentences, some word choices feel a bit odd, and looks like the dash problem still isn't solved. But overall, the sentence optimization feels relatively natural, and unsurprisingly, it passed the GPTZero test.
Another cool thing about TwainGPT: if you're not satisfied with the results, you can humanize it again for free. So I gave it another shot, and after testing, it passed GPTZero once again.
Pricing:
Plan | Price (Annual) | Key Features |
Basic | $8/month | 8,000 humanizer words, 100 AI detector uses, 50 generator uses. |
Premium | $20/month | 30,000 humanizer words, 500 AI detector uses, 200 generator uses, priority support. |
Ultimate | $40/month | Unlimited hummanizer words, detector uses, and generator uses, priority support. |
7. WriteHuman
Overview
WriteHuman is the second tool I've come across that doesn't require sign-up to use. Just like GPTHumanizer AI, you can access it directly on their website. Users can choose from 8 different tones, and for paid users, you can unlock the enhanced model for even better results. WriteHuman also comes with some extra features like an AI detector, AI image detector, word counter, and AI writing detector.
Real Test Result:
Now let's check out the test results. WriteHuman generated the results super fast—the quickest one so far, actually. Like TwainGPT, it doesn't show a word count for the output. Content-wise, there are no unnecessary dashes at all, the tone stays consistent, but the semantic optimization could be a bit better. The downside? It's a bit pricey—even the cheapest plan costs $12 a month.
Key features:
Enhanced model: A model specially updated to work against advanced AI detectors.
Built in AI detector: Lets you check your content for AI patterns for free without having to use another tool.
Quality output: Strives to produce humanised text that is both grammatically correct and of a higher standard in terms of phrasing.
Request-based pricing: The pricing plans are based on the number of humaniser requests per month.
Pricing of WriteHuman:
Plan | Price (Annual) | Key Features |
Free | $0/month | 3 requests/month, up to 200 words each. |
Basic | $12/month | 80 requests/month, access to Enhanced Model. |
Pro | $18/month | 200 requests/month, priority access and support. |
Ultra | $36/month | Unlimited requests/month. |
8. Humbot AI
Overview:
Humbot AI is another all-in-one platform packed with tools. Besides the usual AI humanizer, AI rewriter, and AI checker, it also offers AI Reading, AI Translator, Citation Generator, and AI Summarizer. If you are heavy user, you can purchase API access plans—either monthly or yearly subscriptions based on your needs, starting from $49/month with 50,000 words/month. You'll need to register and log in to use the site.
Key features:
All-in-one suite of powerful tools for writing, research, and content enhancement.
Advanced AI technology: Uses Gemini 2.5 for its essay rewriter, indicating the use of more modern AI model in its tools.
Flexible pricing plans: Multiple subscription options, including a free plan, to suit different user needs.
Real Test Result:
Now let's take a look at what the AI humanizer can do. Humbot AI has three modes for the humanizer, plus three different levels of tone. It supports English and Spanish—which is actually pretty rare among multilingual tools. However, the site doesn't clearly show how many free words you get. In practice, I found that Humbot gives you 200 free words, but each attempt is capped at just 100 words. That's honestly the lowest limit I've seen among all these tools. Here's the thing—with AI humanizer testing, too few words seriously affects the results. You need at least 200 words to get reliable output.
For my test, I chose the auto advanced model with an academic tone. Since I could only input 100 words at a time, I had to split it into two separate tests, then combined the results to test in GPTZero.
Humbot's results page highlights "Phrase Changes" and "Structural Changes," which is a unique feature compared to other products. Humbot AI's built-in AI checker showed the humanized result as "Human-written." However, GPTZero told us the opposite story. Looking back at the previous failed cases, their built-in AI checkers all showed passing results too. Does this prove that users don't really need to pay for the platform's AI checker? I'd say the answer is probably yes.
On top of that, Humbot's sentence optimization was the most disappointing in my opinion. You can see lots of long sentences and uncommon expressions, and those pesky dashes are still there too.
Pricing:
Plan | Price (Yearly) | Key Features |
Free | $0 USD/mo | 200 basic words/mo, 0 advanced words/mo, 100 words input limit. Includes most features but no priority support or detection of text from the latest models. |
Basic | $7.99 USD/mo | 3,000 basic words/mo, 1,000 advanced words/mo, 600 words input limit. |
Unlimited | $9.99 USD/mo | Unlimited basic words/mo, 10,000 advanced words/mo, unlimited input limit, priority support. |
Pro | $9.99 USD/mo | 30,000 basic words/mo, 5,000 advanced words/mo, 1,200 words input limit, priority support. |
9. Grubby AI
Overview:
Grubby AI clearly displays that new users get 300 free words—super useful for us! But yeah, you still need to register before trying it out. After signing up, you're taken to the dashboard, which looks like some kind of cool control panel. The backend has an AI humanizer, summarizer, and tools to generate smart notes/quizzes/flashcards—all of which seem designed for students.
Key Features:
Grubby AI has multiple humanization modes: Simple, Standard and Enhanced;
Grubby AI can improves the naturalness of the text;
Produces plagiarism free rewrites of your text;
Offers high quality outputs with no grammatical errors;
Real Test Result:
Grubby AI's humanizer interface is pretty straightforward with just three modes: optimized models specifically for passing GPTZero, ZeroGPT, or academic use. You can also upload documents directly. Now let's see how it performs in GPTZero mode.
The results look a bit wordky, but the meaning flows smoothly. The dashes are still there, though it successfully passed GPTZero's detection. Worth mentioning: when you click the "Copy & Verify" button, it takes you straight to the GPTZero homepage so you can check the results right away.
Pricing:
Plan | Price (Annual) | Key Features |
Free plan | $0 / month | 300 words free / month, 300 words max per input, Simple Mode |
Essential | $4.99 / month | 10,000 words / month, 500 words max per input, Simple Mode |
Pro | $9.99 / month | 30,000 words / month, 1,500 words max per input, Simple, Standard, and Enhanced Modes |
Unlimited | $14.99 / month | Unlimited words / month, 2,500 words max per input, Simple, Standard, and Enhanced Modes |
Conclusion and Recommendations
Now let's wrap up with a summary of all these products. Firstly, the three tools that didn't pass the test:
Phrasly: Didn't pass the test. It's a pretty basic tool with straightforward pricing. After the trial, you can only buy their unlimited plan at $12.99—pretty high among the tools, not great value.
Humbot AI: The max input is 100 words at a time, making it "dead last" among all the tools I tested. Its performance was just ok and didn't pass our test. Paid plans start at $7.99, so I wouldn't really recommend it.
Stealth Writer: Failed our test. It has the most detailed customization categories—five humanize models, 10 levels of humanization, and 8 different writing styles. These "too many" options, making you wonder if it's just marketing hype or actually work. The pricing isn't friendly either, with the cheapest plan starting at $20.
Now for the tools that really impressed me:
GPTHumanizer AI: The only tool with completely free unlimited use. You can access it right from the homepage—very friendly to use. The humanized results are excellent from every angle. For those who need more features, you can subscribe starting at just $4.99/month. Amazing value!
Grubby AI: 300-word free trial, paid plans from $4.99—same price as GPTHumanizer. The results are solid. The only difference is that GPTHumanizer has a lite model that is completely free to use for all its features.
WriteHuman: Like GPTHumanizer, no registration needed. The humanized results are good, but you only get three free uses per month. Paid plans start at $12/month, which is a bit pricey.
Walter Writes AI: 300-word free trial with good results, but you have to pay to continue using it. Plans start at $8/month for 30,000 words.
HIX Bypass: Just like Humbot, it only allows 125 words max input, which limited our testing. Weirdly, after testing with 103 words, the system showed I'd used 206 characters—- not a good impression on the first go. Plus, the humanized results were below average among all the tools tested. The pricing is relatively high too—$9.99 for only 5,000 words. Not really recommended.
TwainGPT: Supports the most languages, but the results were pretty mediocre. Medium price starting from $8 for 8,000 words per month.
I'm sure by now you've got your own option in mind already! You can either follow my test results to try these tools yourself, or go with your own choice of the features I have described for each product. Either way, I hope my testing has been helpful, and you're always welcome to try our tool GPTHumanizer for free!
